Grove City is a low crime area but the school system is out of control. They passed a school levy about a year and a half ago....on the third try. They just shoved it down the peoples throats. This past November, they tried to pass an income tax increase for the schools. It went down in flames. The last I heard they were going to try again. They have way too much admi nistration and they just flat out lie to the residents as to the reasons for wanting more money. They can't live within their means. This isn't exclusive to Grove City. Most areas in central Ohio are the same. I would stay in Florida if I were you. The weather is terrible. My wife and I moved to North Carolina from Columbus this past November and don't miss it at all.
Good luck

The 2007 Ohio teacher of the year is a teacher at Grove City High School - Southwestern City Schools. The property taxes in Grove City(SWCS)are slightly to much lower than some of the other suburbs such as Hilliard,Dublin,Upper Arlington, New Albany, and there is more afordable housing in GC than some of the other areas.

I dont know about the school system in Grove City but as far as safety goes its a very safe middle-of the road family oriented suburb bordering South-West Columbus.
Grove City is very an family oriented suburb, it seems to have a high concentration of senior citizens. It just tends to have a very quiet, quaint suburban characteristic about it.

I can't comment on the crime in Grove City but I do know they have had a long struggle with getting enough money to pay for school so they have tried some tricks like not paying for any extracurricular, adjusting the school schedule, etc. This has happened for so many years that the home values and resale have taken a real hit. Many realtors won't even list homes in Grove City because it's too risky.

The entire central Ohio area has taken a resale hit including Dublin! First I heard of a Realtor not willing to take a GC listing. Not only that but Grove City has been chosen for the 2007 Parade of Homes along with the fact that a Grove City High School teacher is being honored as the 2007 Teacher of the Year. Hmmmm..seems as though some on the board may have a counter agenda.

Grove City
No. Well, unless you don't have kids. If you do, no.

I think a visit to the area is your best bet. There are a lot of great things happening in the Grove City area.

Thank you all for the information. Columbus seems like a nice area for our family to relocate to. If there were more job's and the crime wasnt so high here we would stay put. Maybe we will look at other cities around the area.
Thank you! I heard Upper Arlington was nice!!

Upper Arlington is very nice and housing and property taxes are very expensive too. What price range are you looking in? In 2006 to date in Upper Arlington - 615 properties sold with an average sq ft 2051 3bd 1.5 bath at $328000. Taxes on a $300000 home would be approx. $5900 yearly.
