courntry-ish living close to gahanna
We will be relocating within the next six months to the Columbus area due to my husband getting a new job in Gahanna. We come from a small town with a population of about 17,000. We have three kids (5,4,2) and are looking for some very specific things. First of all, my husband is willing to commute but no more than about a 1/2 hour each way. We would like to be somewhat close to Gahanna, but would like to live in a country setting if possible. My oldest is currently in kindergarten and goes to a small public school with k-12 in one building and about 60-70 kids per grade. We would love to find a school like that. Also curious about property taxes and cost of living. I am a stay at home mom and we would like to keep it that way. Please tell me if there is any place like this down there that has what we are looking for and is also affordable. Thanks in advance for the help.

Well, I'd probably start out by taking a look at Utica, Ohio, about 20 miles to the northeast of Gahanna, just off of Rt 62.

Pataskala is about 20-30 minutes away and has a country setting, but it is growing. Johnstown is about the same distance and is more of a small town feel.

Pataskala is on its way to becoming a suburb, but it still might fit your bill. Utica, Johnstown and Baltimore are definitely small towns and seem like they will stay that way for the time being.
