Museum of Art was a disappointment IMHO.
Guess coming from Chicago both males and museums would be a disappointment to anyone.
Oh, sorry, I just read your monicer, columbusnative1985. You haven't been anywhere. no wonder you're raving over all the mediocrity Columbus offers. And very young too.
Spend a few years visiting other cities then come back and tell us how Columbus compares.

First of all, learn to spell correctly; it's moniker, not monicer. Second of all, since you seem to know it all, for your ingrate mind, I've been to Miami, Madrid, Barcelona, Montreal, Toronto, Pittsburgh, Palm Beach, Chicago, Louisville, Cleveland, and Houston.
I guess we can't all be as worldly and sophisticated as you Anny dear!
A couple more suggestions for you Anny. One, if you hate it here so much and find our fair city lacking in culture, taste, and excitement, I suggest you head back to Chicago, get a job there, and stay there. Two, people have probably treated you without courtesy because of your ****-poor attitude; after all, you are from Chicago, which is far from the world's friendliest city.

Why not?
Leave the cornfield and see what the rest of the world is like.
I find the people who are most sure that there place is the best, have never left it.

we just spent another wk-end visiting the wifes family in c-bus.. i do not think its fair to compare the city to cinci, they are just too different. the older large cities of ohio have had many, many decades to develope and grow (city, nieghborhoods and suburbs) before c-bus started developing. c-bus also missed the large waves of immigrants from the 1800 + early 1900's that give the older ohio cities more diversity in ethnics/religions , not to mention food choices. we like to visit columbus but a larger metro like cincinnati has much more to offer. note: all three c's in ohio have excellent library systems .

I have lived in Columbus for twelve years and I really like it. Not sure why Anna says the guys here are no good...I met my wonderful husband here....anyway, I went to school at OSU, so I lived downtown and near campus, and now my husband and I live in Dublin and love it. In my opinion, the best suburbs (clean, safe, newer homes and buildings, etc) are Dublin, Westerville, and parts of Hilliard. However, the suburbs with older neigborhoods are going to be Worthington and Upper Arlington, however UA is really close to the OSU campus and way overpriced for the area. I moved to Dublin to get away from the college kids. I do not recommend the Grandview area either. It is gross and rundown. The only good thing about Grandview is it is close to downtown.

I can see Tenzo that you do not understand sarcasm! I guess you seem to be a know it all as well, huh? What about people who were born and raised in, say, New York City and have lived all over the world and still say that New York City is the best place! Or what about people who were born and raised in Cleveland and lived in numerous cities, but still say that Cleveland is better than all those other cities hands down? Your reasoning, at best, sucks. Tenzo, PLEASE keep your negativity and pathetic analogies to yourself!
Tell me Tenzo, where have you traveled? Have you left the cornfield??? Hmmmm???

My favorite city, in North America, is Toronto.
The reason Columbus is such a strong city is that it is a place you can actually live in the city, have a safe neighborhood, amenities, and even a decent public school. Many American cities have interesting tourist areas but fail as places where you can actually live. You do not have to live in the suburbs to have a good lifestyle in Columbus. I think you can have a better, more interesting, and healthier one in the city.
Is some way I feel Columbus has traits of many Canadian cities. We lack the mass abandonment that many American inner cities have.

I laughed at the children of the corn reference.
That's good stuff. Probably inaccurate. But hilarious nonetheless.

back to the orginial post. I live in the burbs' and love it.(Grove City) I'm within 15 mins of downtown. I would have to say when the weekend hits, downtown is dead. unless you're going to a show or sporting event, but then it's really only busy right in that area. check out the sites that streetcreed listed. There is really a lot to do here. Those who say otherwise, must not get out and visit all the different museums, historical homes and great things C-bus has to offer. Good luck in finding the right place.
