Default Walk Score

One of the things many posters ask when evaluating a new area is the ability to walk to conveniences. Many folks don't want to be too car dependent, and seek this feature in their relocation.

I found a site that seems pretty neat in providing this insight, you may want to take a look around:

Those scores don't seem to be anything to brag about....did you notice the shadings on the map? The majority of Columbus is car-dependent.

That's the way we like it. Keeps our neighbors in Detroit in business.

Wow, thanks for posting the Walkscore for good ole Weston (does it have one?)! I'm just renting here until my house sells then I'll buy somewhere close by. New Canaan and Norwalk are pretty nice, but right now I'm here in the fields but it works for where I work. Thanks for keeping tabs.

Columbus is predominatly one big suberb.
The town is very car dependant.

Large cities have mature mass transit, which allows people to forgo cars.
Columbus is the only major city in the US without rail service.

This isnt bad or good, just the way Columbus is laid out
