Default Pataskala

Pataskala is close enough to Columbus to be able to get to anything you might need without breaking a sweat, yet its out in the country far enough to feel like you don't live in the city, or even one of its burbs. I have friends that live out there and its lovely... Woods, corn fields, deer, space... clean air!

I can't give a detailed breakdown of schools, crime, religion and demographics as I'm a realtor and prohibited from steering, but you could check out schoolsmatter.com to compare schools. www.ci.pataskala.oh.us has some blurb about the city. Like other folks have said, there are some great housing deals out there.

Hope this is of some help. Let me know if want more info, I can be specific on housing inventory and property values.

There is nothing to do in Pataskala unless you enjoy watching sports on TV and drinking beer. The town does have a decent library. We go out of town for movies, concerts, plays, and restaurants. The Columbus Zoo in Powell is very nice. The strip malls have restaurants, video stores, grocery and dollar stores. For clothes or sporting goods, you shop in other towns. House prices are less expensive than UA, Dublin, or New Albany. Property taxes are not that low since you do not get many services for what residents pay in taxes (4K for a low $200K house). Many streets need repair, and the police and fire departments are understaffed. Crime is petty like break-ins, vandalism, noise, or pot offenses. There are several golf courses and parks. I cannot think of one restaurant that I would recommend since most of the food in town is mediocre (a lot of fast food and pizza places). The local YMCA needs repair and offers fewer classes than neighboring towns. The town is predominately white with a small mix of other races. There are many churches of mostly christian denominations. The schools are average to good but need levies to balance their budgets every year. LMHS is fairly new with several computer labs. Watkins is overcrowded. The surrounding areas have many colleges and hospitals. The job outlook is terrible. Overall, the Columbus area unemployment is 10-10.5percent for reported job losses. Farms that grow corn and soybeans or raise cattle dot the landscape.Read more: http://www.city-data.com/forum/columbus/571897-pataskala-ohio.html#ixzz0Xj3ApgRG
