I would stay in Frederick or head to Nova. I just moved to Columbus from Frederick and think that there are better jobs over there. The north part of Columbus/Polaris are is nice and still growing. Watch the slums though.

I replied to your DM.

If you have a job and a good support system in Maryland, you may want to sit tight for now. Cost of living is low here, and I don't think the sky is falling, but unemployment is a valid concern and without a degree you may have a tougher time finding a good job - depends on your training/job history/skills. There are a lot of degreed servers (if that's by choice, more power to 'em), but I just don't think now is a good time to rock the boat, so to speak. I would not make the move without a solid job prospect and 6-12 months of living expenses.

Ohio will continue to be cheap...at least until they run out of water in the West so if you wait to move, you won't be missing a once in a lifetime opportunity for cheap living!

^I agree

It will be difficult to find a job without degree, probably in almost any market, especially in this economic climate. I recommend staying put if you have a steady job and nothing lined up here. Columbus will always have a cheap cost of living compared to Maryland. Of course, if Global Warming raises the sea level, most of Maryland may not be there.

Frederick MD gets into a vicinity with a lot of the overflow contract work available from Washington DC. With all of the new spending this might be a great opportunity.

The income potential in that area is far better than either Columus or Hagerstown.
