Alright then, since I'm getting some interest in the nature stuff I'll continue in that direction! My girlfriend and I always used to enjoy going to Inniswood Gardens in Westerville, and they have one particular garden that is extremely inventive.

Metro Parks - Central Ohio Park System- Inniswood Map

If you check out the map above, you'll see an area marked with a "7" called the Sister's Garden. They have a section there where there are stones in the ground which you follow and they tell a children's story as you go along. The story is engraved in the stones. I don't really want to ruin the surprise at the end of the story/trail, so you'll have to check it out for yourself... but it's really quite clever. Not to mention the fact that the rest of Inniswood Gardens is so well executed and really a great pleasure to walk around. Plus... it's FREE!

It's visible on the satellite imagery from Google Maps or Windows Local Live. Follow the path straight into the park from the building at the entrance... you'll see a faint little trail that leads back to a gazebo and a little grass auditorium. Peaceful little spot.

If it's the area I'm thinking of, it should be part of the park on the southern end.

The black coffee ice cream from there was soooo good. Between that and Graeter's, Columbus has some damn good ice cream.

Alrighty then, next point of business. I was always a big fan of Hoover Dam in Westerville, even though it isn't THE Hoover Dam, it's still pretty darn cool. There's a parking lot off Sunbury just north of Central College. You can walk out across the top of the dam and the view is fantastic. In one direction there is a vertigo inducing drop leading out to a lush valley beyond. In the other direction is the Hoover Reservoir... one of the largest bodies of water in the Columbus area. Lots of people boating and waterskiing in the summer time. As an added bonus, there is a frisbee golf course that starts near the parking lot by the dam. A nice way to finish off the day is to take Sunbury north to College, and take College west to State. Where College and State meet is the old town area of Westerville. It's pretty nice and has a good selection of restaurants/shops.
