Default Granville Commute

Does anyone here live in Granville and work in downtown Columbus? If so, how do you find the commute? About how long does it take you, door-to-door, on an average day?

Thanks!

Sorry, I have no answer for you. I just want to bump this. I'm also interested to know the answer to this one. I'm considering moving to Granville, but I think my best bet for a job will be Columbus.

I realize that this is an old thread, but I'll answer it anyway for future reference. The commute to Columbus really depends on where in C-bus you're heading to, but, on average, you should figure 35-45 minutes. There is construction currently being completed on the 161 freeway, set to be finished in 2010, that should reduce the commute by 10-15 minutes. It's not a bad drive, all things considered, and living in Granville more than makes up for it.

I live in Dayton and deliver in the Columbus and Newark areas. I sure hope OH 161 doesn't turn into the dulicate of the IN 67/Interstate 69 mess on the Northeast side of Indianapolis. Those highways turn into a parking lot during rush hour as al of the Indy "escapees" try to make their way to jobs back in Indy...

Thanks, Will. What do you like most about living in Granville? What are the downsides as you see them?

I ask because my wife and I are really on the fence about moving there from Clintonville. We both grew up in Newark and have family there, but my job is downtown. We have pre-school age kids and we love the walkability and community feel of Clintonville, but aren't thrilled with the petty crime and Columbus Public Schools. We're considering UA, the northern part of Clintonville (probably with private schools), and Granville. Any advice or thoughts you have about the pros and cons of Granville for someone like us would be appreciated!

Thanks!

I have never lived in Granville but it was one of the cities we considered when moving to the Columbus area. Granville's schools are excellent and its really a stunning little town. The Dennison campus is amazing. However, when considering daily commutes we chose New Albany for the excellent schools, low crime, community feel and all the ammenities.

But the one piece of information I'll offer is a problem we ran into that also helped steer us away from Granville was the high radon levels (at least in the homes we were looking at). That may not be an issue for you and maybe we just looked at the wrong houses but I thought I would throw that out there as something to consider.
