Moving to Columbus from out of state - what is Clintonville like?
I am moving to Columbus for a work project and am interested in learning what the Clintonville area is like. I am a 40 year old white, male, gay guy. Single, semi-professional and very stable financially, blah blah blah. I live a quiet life and would like a small house in an area that is somewhat cool but also pretty quiet. Thanks in advance for any help!

Clintonville sounds good from what you asking. Just know that there is nothing really walkable as in a square or condensed little strip of quaint places to explore. If you are looking to buy, Clintonville has a nice range of older, well kept homes that are mostly around 90 to 100 years old. The rentals can be scetchy to the south but usualy have the basics (hardwood floors, fireplace mantles, semi-high ceilings etc). The nicer Clintonville gets, the more all-american/dogs/kids/suburban it becomes so if you are looking for an artsy area, it might not be as unique as many here will lead you to believe. Another similar area is Grandview and it is equally quiet/charming with a neat little row of coffee shops, bistros and non-essential shopping on Grandview Avenue that is central to many residents. Oh, and it is much closer to all of the good stuff in the Short North should you feel the need to liven things up on occasion. Both places are nice.
Good luck with the move.

You will have a lot of choices. Columbus has many gay friendly neighborhoods, Clintonville being just one. Victorian Village, Italian Village, German Village, Merion Village, and Grandview also rank high up on the list. These are all near downtown.
As well as the enclaves of Berwick (on the east side) and West Gate on the west side, respectively. On the NE side is Oakland Park.

Also have you looked into Olde Town East? The gentrified parts is also very gay friendly.

I'd suggest looking at German Village.
Quite a few bargains, close to downtown and lots of gay men in your age group. Short North is a little younger crowd.
(no age crack meant there, I'm in the same bracket)
