Default Moving to Columbus

Hey! First, I'm sorry. I know this has probably been posted a million times.

We're moving in the next month or two to Columbus and I'm looking for information. There is a good chance my son will be starting kindergarten so the school system is the most important thing to me. I'm looking for more of a suburb then being in the city.

Any advice/suggestions/tips?

Are there good things for preschoolers to do? I've heard the COSI museum is fun?

Are you planning on buying or renting?
How much are you wiling to spend on housing?
Where will you be working and how long of a commute are you willing to deal with?

Southwest end of Columbus for work.
Not sure on a price yet. Just beginning to look and learn about the area but we will be renting until we are comfortable with the area and know where we want to stay. No definite on the commute too. If the area is worth it then a longer commute may be worth it.

PLEASE HELP!!!

I've been killing myself to try and find an apartment in Columbus. My boyfriend and I are move there at the end of the summer so he can go to grad school at Ohio State. We are planning a trip out there to find an apartment and its kind of a one shot deal (we are about 10.5 hours away by car) but will most likely fly out this time. I think I have been on almost every website to find an apartment. Everything looks so nice but I know there are better parts of the City. We don't want to be right near campus and would like a some what quite area. I've only been to Columbus once and it was for a spring game. I didn't take the time to look at the different areas of the city. If someone could help with finding a good apartment or townhouse, I would greatly appreciate it!!! If you could give actual names of the complex, it would be really helpful!
Thanks!!

To the orginial poster....try looking in Grove City, even out towards to Galloway or up into Hilliard. If you look at Grove City and are looking at apartments stay over towards Stringtown Road. Most the apts. in the north part and older parts of Grove City are just that old and not my first choice. There's some nice areas off of the south part of Georgesvilles Road (south of 270). Galloway would be out West Broad St. and try looking around Hilliard-Rome Rd. Good Luck!

I lived here for awhile. Quiet. Right on 161 and easy access to 270. But you aren't in a traffic jam if you just wanna run to the store and what not.

There are a ton of apartments out that way on 161. Can't remember the names of them all though.

If you are doing an internet search 161 is Dublin-Granville Road.

In regards to a quiet area near Ohio State, Columbus is not really a loud city. Certain sections of High St., near campus, or random pockets would be near a bar and the area just east of Campus has some frat houses and areas with parties in the spring and fall on front lawns.

Other than that you can be very close to OSU, the highly sought after short North, and downtown (where a lot of Columbus' culture/vibe lye) and not be in a loud area.

I would suggest looking into a rental in northern victorian village (just southWEST of OSU), the Clintonville neighborhood just north of OSU or Harrison West, SW of OSU. Harrison West is a subset neighborhood of Victorian Village. Last recommendation is Grandview Heights, SW of OSU. All of these neighborhoods are quiet, safe, yet urban and walkable, and very close to OSU and the more younger progressive lifestyle yet friendly for graduates or families.

By visiting ColumbusUnderground.com
and Columbus RetroMetro :: Home
You will be able to get specific boundaries for these neighborhoods. These sites have sections on the central city Columbus neighborhoods and will he helpful in locating the boundaries, but for finding rentals within them you may need to surf around online or better visit in person these areas.
