Question Safe and Cheap Apartments for Rent

Hello,

I'm going to start MS education at the Ohio State University. I'm going to come with my wife. I'm a sponsored student, but my monthly income will be $1200. My wife won't work, so I am looking for cheap and safe areas which close to OSU. My wife will often stay home alone, that's why safety and neighborhood is very important for me. Could you please assist me for the decision? Thanks a lot.

Mehmet

Do you want to be within walking distance of OSU-- or will you be driving to school every day?
About how much do you want to spend?
If you spend 1/3 of your income on rent, that would be $400, and you will not get much for that, sorry to say. I lived on Neil Avenue for years and found the "Victorian Village" area to be sufficiently safe and with lots of people out and about, walking and socializing, and many stores and restaurants in walking distance. You could walk to classes. Also there is Harrison West, Italian Village -- same situation. Also the campus area itself, within 5 blocks of OSU in any direction, should have lots of cheap apartments that are relatively safe due to lots of people coming and going at all times, as long as you don't roam solo late at night.
