Moving to Columbus
My husband and I are trying to get into the OSU and move to OH. we live in N California and must leave for jobs. I'm having a difficult time researching the areas of Columbus to find an area to live. I've found positive comments on Dublin and UA as well as Westerville. any suggestions? we have 2 kids (2 &4) and I'd like to be in a nice kid-friendly area with parks and privacy...any help would be greatly appreciated!

Look into those, along with Bexley, which might be slightly more convenient for an OSU employee.

What is your price range? What other amenities are you looking for? I would recommend the cities you mentioned along with Worthington, Lewis Center and Grandview. They all have very unique features to offer. UA and Dublin can be expensive. I would probably lean toward Grandview because it is so close to OSU and has a lot of nice retail and restaurants on Grandview Ave.

Honestly we have no idea where to start! I suppose getting the jobs would be a number one!! as far as price range, the 200s would be comfortable. other interests are safety, good retaurants, and privacy. we live on 20 acres now so neighborhood noise is none existant. I can't seem to find lewis center on my map...where is it? best school districts? thanks!

Lewis Center is North of Powell near Alum Creek. That area goes to Olentangy schools which is a good school district. In the 200s you probably wont find anything in UA or if you do it will be a tiny house. All of the central ohio school districts are excellent except Columbus city schools. Thats the only district I would avoid. Westerville is also a good city they where ranked 15th best city by money magazine.
Here is a website that might be helpful in researching the different school districts.

In central ohio a lot of people use Alum Creek which is a nice area, its pretty big (not really a creek). If you find that on google maps lewis center is the surrounding area. Some people also go up to lake erie to go boating as well.

There are plenty of places to go boating. Alum Creek is great. Also the Hoover Dam resevoir or Delaware State Park are north of Columbus or Buckeye Lake a little ways to the east of the city. Lewis Center is basically the area around and north of the intersection of US-23 and Polaris Parkway north of the center of town a little ways. Great area, but if you are both looking at OSU for school I would recommend something closer. In my opinion, some of the worst traffic in town is trying to come north on 315 from the OSU area, getting on I-270 and then messing with trying to head up US-23.
Dublin is on the NW side of town, is relatively close to campus depending on what part of Dublin you are in and is a great area. Upper Arlington is closer to campus and has great schools as well. It's a very affluent area, but there are some affordable areas as well. For instance, I had some friends that lived in what I've heard referred to as the "golden ghetto". It was the area east of US-33/Riverside Dr, South of Fishinger Rd, and north of Zollinger Rd. Nice area, quiet, and only a 'ghetto' when compared to some of the neighbor hoods with million dollar homes.
Bexley is on the east side of downtown and is a very nice area, but would be a little longer of a drive to OSU than Upper Arlington and you have to drive through some shady areas before you get into downtown and on up to campus.
As far as family friendly neighborhoods in your price range without regard to proximity to OSU, I would have to say my favorites would be Lewis Center, Westerville, Dublin, Upper Arlington, and Worthington. All of them would be fine for a family.
