Default RN's-Best hospitals in Columbus to work?

Hello. I am a registered nurse working in ICU and will be relocating to Columbus from Michigan. I would like information on which hospitals I should look into. I will be living in New Albany.
Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you

You might want to look into the Mount Carmel Health System: http://www.mountcarmelhealth.com/index.cfm

There's even a surgical center they've opened in New Albany, but I'm not sure if that one has an ICU.

St. Ann's, Mt. Carmel East, and the main Mt. Carmel campus downtown are all very good hospitals. If I ever had to be in an ICU, God forbid...I'd rather be in one of those than either Riverside or OSU.

The only hospitals I am familar with are Riverside and OSU. My mother works at OSU, and I am there all the time. It is a very large hospital, that is expanding a lot (they are expanding the cancer hospital, heart, research center, etc,)

Just wondering, did you have a bad experience at the ICU at OSU or Riverside, what have you heard that made you think you woudn't want to attend an ICU there?

A very close friend of mine lost a relative at Riverside, when he (the patient) suffered a severe stroke—for which simple screening/preventive measures could have been taken, but weren't! The relative was taken to ICU but died a few days later.

A friend of my parents drove to Riverside once, intending to admit himself as he was having chest pains. The paperwork and bureaucratic rigmarole they put him thru was infuriating, but the worst part was the waiting...and waiting...and (more paperwork, then) waiting. Finally he gave up and left. In his car on the way home, he suffered a heart attack and died.

A kid I knew in high school was misdiagnosed by some cretin doctor at Riverside, then was given an unneccesary "de-tox" drug regimen that nearly shut down his liver functioning! He survived and recovered.

So of the above cases, Riverside was 1 for 3. And they almost blew the 1!

At OSU, my lovely lady worked there while in grad school. The people she worked with sounded like the cast of Animal House. All they talked about during the day was how much they'd drank the previous night, how hungover they were, what bars/clubs they'd cruised, and who they'd had sex with. I'm sure these were undergrads and/or student assistants but still...if my life or the life of a loved one were at stake, I would NOT want to be in the "care" of such careless idiots!

Not to generalize; OSU and Riverside are both big places, and I'm sure there are some competent, dedicated and very professional people at each place. But of the folks closest to me, the experiences have been spotty at best.

I'm not Catholic myself, but overall it seems that the best healthcare provided in this part of the country (Midwest) always seems to come from the Catholic hospitals. Maybe it's because they're not in it for profit, but do what they do primarily for the love of God.

OhioHealth is listed as a best company to work for great benefits.
Great healthcare system.
They have 3 hospitals in Columbus
Grant--Level 1 Trauma Center. So they have ICU, TICU, SICU
Riverside--Mothership of OhioHealth, huge hospital, but not a level one
Doctor's West (the least nice of the 3)

one more thing
If you will be living in New Albany there are 2 facilities there.
NASH (new albany surgical hospital) just outpt sx I think.
COSI (Central Ohio Surgical Institute) a sx center.

Interesting that you say that. I'm currently a medical student and I've worked at a lot of the hospitals in the Columbus area. I've noticed that a lot of women in the nursing profession are quite slutty, and they like to talk loudly about men they've had sex with, even when - and perhaps especially - when young guys like me are around.

Funny. You'd think being in the medical field, they would know the potential consequences of whoring around.

Wonder how many of 'em like to boast about their herpes, chlamydia, syphilis, HPV, HIV, etc. Eeeewww...

I was in Riverside in April 07. I had the best stay ever up on the 7th floor west.
My nurses and doctors were the best.
