Default Gyms

My husband and I will be closing on our house in Columbus and moving this month and I am looking for a gym to join. I am not opposed to bigger chains like Urban Active, but I really don't need a lot of other "stuff" at a gym. I want to go and work out and be able to use equipment without having a huge wait and deal with huge crowds, although I know there will be peak hours everywhere. But I don't need tanning or smoothies or a lot of classes offered or anything like that. Our house is in Hamilton Meadows by Lockbourne/Rathmell and I will work near Grove City, so something in the area would be better than in north Columbus, but it does not have to be super close either.

If you don't mind the drive.
There is nothing beter than the OSU rec facilities.
I mean one building has 6 pools.
Plus a lot of free help and equipment rental for almost nothing.
It's also cheap.

All you need is a student or employee to sponsor you.
And in this city, that is not hard.

I would look into Lifestyles. They're a chain, like UA, but they're definitely a step down in stature, and in price.

Tenzo

I clicked on that link and there really isn't any information. I know a few people that go to OSU. What do they need to do to sponsor me? Do you have a phone number I can call for information or another link?

Just show up with a student or faculty member.
If you check their website, they usually have a free week at the beginning of each semester in which you can try it out.

I recently joined the YMCA. They have 7 locations in Franklin county. It is under $30 a month to join and you can use all their equipment (they have everything) as well as take all their classes as a bonus. You get 7 weeks of a FitStart program included as well. It is SUCH a great deal - great gym, great staff, great price.

The problem with the OSU Rec Center is parking. I teach classes at the OSU Rec Center (RPAC) and I have to drive to Summit or 4th and catch the East Residential bus to the campus because parking is horrific sometimes!
