Default Olentangy, Westerville, Dublin

Moving to Columbus and I would love to find a house in Olentangy. However, everything I look at has power lines running through the neighborhood or rail road tracks. Our price range is through 450,000. I've found a few houses in Westerville. I love how close Polaris is, I do have some concerns about Westerville schools---thoughts?? Do you think the levy will pass? I like Dublin for the schools, although very expensive. New Albany is out because of taxes. And Pickerington doesn't look very nice (not enough codes).

Hmmm..... $450k? Not a fan of Dublin?

Westerville would be your best bet if you want a 'burb, and the Deleware area if you want land. You also might want to look at Hilliard as another alternative, and Upper Arlington or Bexley if you want more of an "old-money" 'burb.

Based on what you'd seem to like, I'd probably take a look around the Highland Lakes area of Westerville, just to the east of Polaris.

I know a couple teachers in Westerville and they aren't very confident about the Levy passing.

Have you looked in Worthington or Riverlea?

Shhhh....New Albany taxes aren't any higher than anywhere else, it's just when your house is worth more you pay more taxes. Having just moved here, I chose where to live based in part due to power line issues in Olentangy, school issues in Westerville, radon issues in Dublin, and not wanting an older house in Worthington or Upper Arlington as I have spent too much time restoring old houses over the past decade. That led me to New Albany. So far, so good. I've never had nicer neighbors, the schools are top notch, and its only 10 minutes to Easton or Polaris, 15 to Dublin.

Good luck!

if you want to be closer to polaris & have a nicer home....why don't you try Powell. It is a very wealthy area & reminds me a lot of New Albany w/ the white fences everywhere.... it's close to dublin as well & just north'ish of Olentangy pretty much
