moving to columbus!
hey, I was wondering if someone can give me some insite about the city of columbus. I have to relocate my family from cleveland due to a job opportunity given to my husband. the job is located in the downtown area. We're looking for an 2-3 bedroom apartment for our first year to get a feel for the city. Great suburb location are a must with a reasonable commute to downtown. If anyone can help me please do. I have no idea as to where to start. thanks in advance!

Don't move - is the best advice.

If you could give an idea of a price range you're looking for in an apartment, and what you consider a "reasonable" commute, that would help me give you an answer. There's a really big range, depending on what you're willing to pay, and how long of a commute you want. Do you have kids? If you do, you definitely want to move to the suburbs.

The out of whack suburban presence on the C-Bus C-D forum always amuses me......
Anyways, could you be a little more specific? There are many places in C-Bus that will fit your above description.

When people arrive in Columbus, Ohio and mention that they are from another city or area of the country, such as Denver, Atlanta or Boston, people in Columbus either:1.) Have a look on their face and act like they have no idea of where that is or anything about that city or area of the country (including other cities and areas of Ohio). They act totally ignorant about anyplace outside the Columbus Bubble and for a good reason, they are. The visitor or newcomer just shake their head and call Columbus a certain type town.2.) Act very rude, narcissistic and arrogant, with an attitude that their hometown is better than everyone else's. This unfriendly attitude tends to **** off people who are from other places outside the Columbus Bubble. Instead of welcoming people to Columbus, they are down right rude to them. Then when the visitor or newcomer, realizes that the rude and arrogant person was born and raised in Columbus and has never left the Columbus Bubble, they just shake their head and call Columbus a certain type town.

There are some reasonable apartments on Hilliard Rome Road. It's close to 70 and a straight shot to downtown. I believe the apartments are called Templeton Crossing. A two-bedroom apartment is abt $540 a month. Pretty reasonable for Hilliard. It's close to stores and restaurants and not too far from Tuttle Mall. I know people that live in the complex and it's a nice community that sorta out of town yet close to the city. Good Luck!

There are many apartments around the Henderson Rd, Bethel Rd and Sawmill Rd area, in the northwest area of Columbus. It is a reasonably safe area, with a lot of convenience to shopping and downtown.

Holy Moly do I disagree. We just moved here from enemy territory (Michigan) and everyone we've met has been so nice and friendly it doesn't seem real. We've lived in several areas across the country and have never had some a warm reception. A month at our new house and we already know more of our neighbors than we knew in years at any other place we lived. Neighbors actually came over, welcomed us, and brought us baked goods. Are you kidding me? Maybe the "Columbus Bubble" is a good thing.

People from Columbus have a lot in common with the Amish.
But to adress the OP.
As I was told; "One good thing about Columbus is that you can go anywhere in about 15 minutes, the bad thing is there is no place to go"
The commute downtown is pretty easy. Any place you live will be fine.
If you want more exact info, tell us what you are looking for in a community.

I am so Amish it isn't even funny.
If the work is going to be downtown, think about some areas that are inside the outer belt like German Village, Bexley, Upper Arlington, and Grandview. Might let you see some of the "community" based areas in the bus. Many people end up in a suburb, ie Westerville or Hilliard, and never take the time to check out more Urban Communities (not saying everybody). Are your kids older, younger, looking for a community with a skate park, walkable shops, ect?
Come on Tenzo, of course there are places to go, you can always go out! Bonus points to Mary444xyz for copy paste with the same broad sweeping generalization in two threads. I go for both A and B, I tell them where they came from sucks, then I tell them I have never left Franklin County because it is the coolest county ever. Really, I think some people just sit in their apartment, not trying to find the good in anything, concocting ridiculous comments to throw on the internet because they are too lazy to go out and change their own circumstances......
