Columbus: Not a bad place to live.
I lived in Cbus for 3 years and I really enjoyed it. I know some of you will say:
It's slow, it's know diversity, blah, blah, blah. But overall Cbus is a really nice place.
I guess I should say the entire Central Ohio is nice. I meet people in Chicago that have visited or lived in Cbus and many feel the same way.
I sometimes think of moving back or at least to a city that is comparable to Cbus.
 to Columbus.

I enjoyed my turn there too. In my case, it was for a 14 year period, from 1992 to 2006.
In hindsight, one of the things I find interesting is how the city evolved in that time frame. It seemed that all potential "progress" was stalled or minimized, but when you look back you see significant changes.
I know when I arrived all of this didn't really exist, or was minimal:
Tartan Field - didn't exist at all
Wedgewood - just getting started with a Parade of Homes tour
Easton - didn't exist at all
Polaris - didn't exist at all
Tuttle - didn't exist at all
New Albany - just initiating development
South Campus - didn't exist at all
Lane Avenue Shops - old enclosed small mall only partially occupied
Victorian Village and Goodale Park- just beginning some rehab projects, vast majority of homes in bad shape
Dublin Rec Center - didn't exist at all
Westerville Rec Center - didn't exist at all
Worthington Rec Center - a small modest community facility
COSI - moved and substantially expanded
Zoo - siginficantly expanded
Arena District - didn't exist at all
Nationwide Arena - didn't exist at all
Shottenstein Center - didn't exist at all
The Cap - didn't exist at all
The Short North Arches - didn't exist at all
That is just off the top of my head, I'm sure a lot of stuff I'm leaving out. Point is, that is a lot of stuff in a 14 year span

You should take a look at how many Fortune 1000 companies were headquartered in central Ohio when you moved here and how many were left whene you moved away. I won't tell you the number, but almost half the companies either left or went out of business. Talk about progress..

Or you could just tell us the number and/or give us a full list.

No what would be the fun in that? There is something that is just gratifying in doing your own research....Kind of like building something with your own two hands. I wouldn't want to keep that from anyone.

There is also something suspicious about someone who makes a claim on an internet message board and then doesn't (or even worse, refuses to) back it up with evidence. Just an FYI. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I'm curious to see what you're looking at.
If we were talking about Cleveland, I'd have a lot more faith in your claim, because Cleveland once had a great number of Fortune 500 headquarters that are no longer around. I don't know Columbus as well, but my intuition tells me that they didn't have as many HQs to begin with, and the ones they did have, still seem to be around.

Sure a lot of Fortune 500 Companies moved out, but even more moved in. Nationwide, National City, US Bank, Huntington, Safe Auto, M/I Homes, etc. etc.
