My family and I will be relocating to the columbus area, we are looking for a rural area, at least somewhat country, preferably not subdivison living. Also, we are searching the area for the best public schools? We are from Michigan, and currently live in Frankenmuth. Anything similar in Columbus or the surrounding areas? We need reasonably priced housing as well.

You may want to take a look at Granville, Ohio. It is about 15 miles east of Columbus, has a wide price range for homes, and may have the charm you are leaving in Frankenmuth. I can't vouch for the schools, but I believe they are highly rated. I've attached a web site concerning their high school scores, which are very high:
