My husband and I are moving to the Columbus area this summer. We are Nebraskans so we have no clue what day care costs are in Ohio. We have a toddler and a preschooler and are looking at either a center or private in-home care. Can anyone throw out some prices??

A center will run you approx. $800-1200 a month. $1000 really seems to be the average. I don't have any in "daycare"(only preschool) but my friends over here in New Albany tell me that's about what they pay.

New Albany has to be the highest cost for daycare, so expect that to be your max. I pay $550 a month for 2 kids in Gahanna.

Rklesla -- We are trying to get information on daycare because we are trying for our first and working out a budget. Do you know how much it would be for 1 child around the east side of town? I didn't know if you got a discount because you had 2 children in daycare or not. We are in Reynoldsburg, so it is only 10-15 minutes difference from Gahanna, and not NEARLY as expensive as New albany.

Thanks!

I thought that I was charging too much for babysitting. I watch kids in my home, some of them 12 hrs a day and charge $300 a month and still the parentes make that face that I charge too much. Can anyone tell me if that is too much.

Gta that is probably on the low side for in home daycare. I know some of the better daycares charge upwards of $200 per week according to age. Lots of these child care centers now have complete programs for the children even the infants. It is not unheard of to pay around $600-$800 a month for fulltime Childcare.

Default I have one for You

I take my baby (well 16 months) to Kimberly Ruark. Its an in-home daycare. Its at her house in Reynoldsburg. I have been there for over a year now and it been great. Bella just loves to go there. Kimberly also babysits for a Principal in Reynoldsburg, so she does have a good reputation.

her number is 614-403-6709

I live in the westerville area and I pay $791 every two weeks for two kids in Daycare. This is cheaper than where my oldest was attending before we had our second.
