Default Westerville Relocation

Hello!
I would like some input on Westerville. My husband and 4 boys are thinking of moving to Westerville from Galion,Ohio. We have been there a few times looking around and were just there today. One thing we really like is that it has an uptown area with little shops and stores. It really appears to be a great city! Here are some questions I need to find the answers to ASAP!

Where are the safest parts of Westerville to live?

Which schools are considered the most desireable to attend?

Is there any areas to stay away from?

Do they have a ymca?

Where is the skate park and is it in a safe area?

Thank you very much!!

Just moved to Westerville a year ago from the west coast and my family and I love it. We're near the Central High School (north of Maxtown rd and east of state route 3). There really aren't any bad areas of town but you may want to stay north of Walnut to be in the nicer areas. There's a new community center on Cleveland and county line rd which has a HUGE pool and work out facilities. Not sure about a skate park?? If you want to live in a nice area you don't have to go very far....Anything North of Polaris Pkwy/Maxtown Rd is going to be extremely nice and safe

There are a TON of state parks i nthe Columbus area. You've got the Hoover dam in Westerville if you like water activities. I think Westerville is pretty safe all around. I'd stay away from Cleveland Ave, it's pretty ghetto though.

Default Reference Point: Relocating to Westerville

Westerville is the quintessential "Mayberry". Getting around is easy, streets are clean and law enforcement is never far away. I went to school (grades 5 through 12) in Westerville and never, at any time did I feel any of the angst I lived with as a student when I lived on the South side, before I moved to Westerville. Westerville schools were heaven by comarison. In short, Westerville is a pleasant, safe, family community where you can still walk down your street at 2 AM and the worst thing you have to fear is having the Westerville Police stop you to make sure you're not up to no good. Oh... and housing is relatively inexpensive compared to other parts of the country.

How is the area of Columbus that would fall into Westerville school district? I noticed homes and taxes are a little cheaper.

How is Minerva Ave near Westerville?
