Smile Relocating from nj to reynoldsburg area?

Hello,

I would appreciate any advice you may have for me. I was born and raised in NJ and in need of a serious change. I am looking for a slower pace/friendly people and a much more affordable housing than here in Jersey.

I have bad allergies and asthma. I currently live 5 minutes from the ocean. I am wondering how I would be affected in Ohio. Also, as far as healthcare jobs, are they plentiful?

Again, whatever info you can provide would be appreciated. I am looking to relocate within 2 years.

Thank you

Might be able to provide you some insights with a little more information.

Where in New Jersey are you currently located, and what attracted you to Reynoldsburg? Places in New Jersey have significant differences, so I might see your points differently if you are in far northern New Jersey than if you are near Cape May or Atlantic City.

What type of housing (price and type (condo/single home/apt)) are you seeking?

I don't think anyone can tell you how your allergies and asthma will be affected - you need to see for yourself. I moved from NJ to Columbus almost 15 years ago. We found in general, I stress, in general it is a slower pace and the folks are friendlier. But there are nice people in NJ too, as well as some not so nice here. You will get more home for your money here without a doubt. But some folks expect miracles. Reynoldsburg is one of the more affordable suburbs. But you are not going to find a move-in ready home complete with 2 car garage, basement, fenced yard, guaranteed "safe" neighborhood, etc. for 80K. That is what some expect and that is unrealistic.

Hi girl:0
Thank you for your reply. My motive for moving is to be @ a slower pace and cheaper living. I hear what you are saying about miracles...trust me, I'm not expecting any.
What do u mean about not expecting a move-in ready home in a safe neighborhood? I wasn't expecting 80k by any means, although it would be nice. I would like something less than 150 though, or around there.

Hi CA,
Thank you for your reply. I am in Monmouth County and currently rent an apartment. I am looking for something around 150K in or around Reynoldsburg. I have friends who are there, and provided some insight into the area but I want diff opinions. They are also from Monmouth County and relocated to Ohio 12 years ago. I also hear that healthcare opportunities are booming there and will be for years to come ( I am a healthcare provideer). Initially I would rent an apt just so not to be to quick to jump into ownership.

OK, I'm a little familiar with the area, having done some work at NWS Earle. Also had a lot of fun as a kid at Asbury Park, before it substantially deteriorated...but I digress.

I would say that you'll find quite a few options in and around the Reynoldsburg area. Columbus has quite a few smaller homes and condo's. One big change for you will be the high number of condo's in the metro Columbus area, these are units that are attached to other houses but have no other residence above or below it.

Reynoldsburg is fine, and I would also take a good look at your housing options in Gahanna.

Ok, now that makes a big difference. You can get a nice post 2000
home in Reynoldsburg if you go up to 150,000. Nice older ones in established neighborhoods for less. So you should do fine and you will have plenty of retail and restaurants to choose from in the area. Gahanna is a good idea too. But I see more house for your money in Reynoldsburg than Gahanna.
