Can anyone tell me about Circleville?
I'm looking to relocate to the southern part of Columbus. I grew up in Jefferson so I'm used to a small town type atmosphere.
I'm terrified to pick the 'wrong' location and end up with my kids, 13 and 15, in a bad school. Real Estate agents aren't so helpful, they are hoping to cash in.
Any insight would be appreciated!!

I went through Circleville about a month ago. Been through a few times before. It is the home of Circleville Christian University I think they're calling it now, formerally called Circleville Bible College. It is a typical appalachian town, complete with all the hicks. Very affordable housing and cost of living. Quite white, if that is what you like (which I don't). It is like a small town atmosphere in many regards, but somewhat pretty. You can make it whatever you wish.
Hope this helps. I live in Somerset, about 40 miles east of there in Perry County. You'd be in *****way County, I do believe.

C-Ville is a GREAT place to raise kids!!
I lived in Circleville for about 3 years (left due to my little girls dad and I splitting up) and its a wonderful place to raise kids. Good schools, good neighbors and there isn't much crime there. Plus theres the Pumpkin Show every year which is a ton of fun! I still go every year and my aunt has lived down there for about 9 years now...happy house hunting! BTW its Pick away County... and my grandmother is a realtor who IS about helping people. I can put u in contact with her if you would like...

i currently live in circleville and it is a good area to live in and to raise a family. That's if you like small towns. the one thing I hate about it is there is not much to do.

I'm also looking to move to Circleville. Can anyone tell me about job opportunities? I'm young, just out of grad school & will really work any kind of job starting out. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Circleville is a GREAT little town!
I was just there to attend a wedding over the summer. Folks in C'ville are just down-home, friendly, unassuming, kind hearted people. They're not afraid to talk about their faith, either—which I like! It's definitely not yuppieville; nobody's trying to impress each other.
What C'ville is perhaps best known for is the Pumpkin Show, every October. It's awesome!!! Growing up in Lancaster, the next county over, I frequently came for the Pumpkin Show and in HS, I even marched in their parade
Best of luck to y'all!

Circleville I think is fairly family friendly. Were you interested in living in "town" or in the country part? I noticed the town part has a lot of older, historic homes, which are very beautiful. I never hear anything bad about the schools. Ashville could be another option, it's a little more closer to the outlying suburbs of Columbus. Were you working in Cols or Circleville?

Circleville is the wrong place to go
Circleville is a horrible place to live. I am 22 and have lived there since I was 8 yrs old. It was a nice town, but the city itself has gotten greedy. The taxes have been going up and the government departments are continually in the red. Recently there was a tax rate increase vote that would affect those working outside of circleville but live in circleville. Simply put they would be taxed more.... It was overwhemingly voted no, but the city council voted to override it, and on the public access channel they criticized the residents of circleville. Which in turn a citizen watching went there and scolded the city council members.
The police force is known to be corrupt in many ways, and the school system is slowly loosing its ratings among the state and other schools. The system itself has fired many veteran teachers to bring in ones right out of college to pay them less, resulting in a lack of good education. I know this due to knowing the teachers and students currently attending.
I would recommend Ashville or a place in the Amanda Clearcreek district. Stay away from Circleville and its school district.
