The U2711 goes for $999. Also, the Apple 27" works on a Windows PC as well.
Also, the system Brill mentioned blows the iMac away. Basically by 2 fold in theory. Crossfire + SSD isn't cheap.
Thanks for the correction. OK so it doesn't get blown away, lets upgrade the iMac.
iMac 27-inch
2.93GHz Intel Core i7
2560-by-1440 resolution
8GB memory
1TB hard drive
8x double-layer SuperDrive
ATI Radeon HD 5750 with 1GB
Price: $2,399.00
PC = $1,500 + a 27" IPS Monitor $999 = $2,499.
So you save $100 with the iMac, minus the 80GB SSD. The extra SSD is bit difficult. Since Apple doesn't have an option for it, you would have to do that yourself. But if you combine it with a DIY memory upgrade, the price should still be about the same (coming from the price saving on the RAM). So you still get more and pay less for the Mac.
The poll results stand at 56-12. The answer to the OP is obvious. Constant arguments over a mouse or a price accomplishes nothing. People buy computers for many reasons, but the history of sales indicates that 80% of them prefer using Windows. It doesn't really matter why; it is what it is.
Now you've really done it. Them's fightin' words. Hondas are way more reliable than Porsches!
Actually, this thread was entertaining, .. these Mac vs PC pissing contests.

At any rate, anyone that bases Macs as a choice based on price doesn't get it. They are the same people that will argue a Honda Accord will get the job done as well as a Porsche 911 and ignore the performance and quality differences. Like an Accord, a PC is good basic device, which is all most people need, but it will never be as competent as a 911.
At any rate, anyone that bases Macs as a choice based on price doesn't get it.
Anyone who ignores price is way out of touch with reality. Price is a very big factor in most people's buying decision whether its a computer or a knife.
