I've been trying to burn some music to a cd using an external DVD/CD burner. I'am using Nero burning software. Anyway, when I click burn in Nero it causes my CD driver on my computer to open but that driver doesn't work. I have the external burner hooked you to the computer but nothing happens with it. I know the external burner works because I just reinstalled Nero with it the other day. Any ideas on why the external burner isn't working with Nero? Do I maybe need to do something with the computer's cd burner to make it stop openning first which again doesn't work anyway?

How old is your Nero relative to this external drive? Did your Nero come with another drive? It simply may not recognize that drive as a burner. Look around in Nero's options for something where it detects your burners.

I'am using a LiteOn external burner. The Nero installation disk came with it. I bought them about two years ago.

Not sure if a USB CD/DVD device will be in the BIOS on startup. Might be something to check.

In Control Panel, System, Hardware do you see the USB device listed? Is there a yellow marker on it?
Does the USB device work on other PCs?

Download Imageburn, maybe it will work better.
