The "geniuses" at Microsoft think they know more about how people want to use computers than the people who use computers. They have consistently shown themselves to be ego-maniacal in this regard, and a little stupid.

There might be a third party application that can force this.

Someone in another forum mentioned they had placed numbers in the comment field to sort by that field in the order they wanted. Still sounds very rigid.

I wonder if the value data in a registry key could be modified...? Question is, which one? I know 1's and 0's are sometimes used to turn on or off a feature, but I'd have no idea where to look in the registry.

Yeah, it allows you to sort it by many different criteria. But it doesn't help when you want to group all photos of people together, and all photos of plants together, and all photos of animals together - or if you want to arrange all your documents according to the subject matter instead of alphabetically or when they were created.

It's weird that you can move and/or arrange the icons on your desktop however you want. So one would think it shouldn't be a big deal to be able to do it in individual folders.
