Missing Software for Windows7 (CD, hard drive, operating system, games)

I have had this new hard drive for about a month now and I'm beginning to notice that I'm missing quite a few things. Unlike the original hard drive, I now longer have Microsoft Word/Excel ect. Some of the various out-of-box games are no long available as well. Is there anything I can do to restore them? Do I need to call Dell up? Or will running a drivers/apps disk cure all?

Any help would be great!

If your hard drive died and you had it replaced, chances are whoever did it only reinstalled the operating system and needed drivers. You would need to have disks containing the programs you want on the computer and reinstall them yourself. The restore disk may or may not have the programs you are looking for on them.

Windows has never come with Word or Excel. Those are part of another program called Microsoft Office. If you don't have your Office CD and key from your old computer, you'll need to buy a new copy if Dell won't send you one.

Did you give them your restore set to reload with?

If you dont have the restore set of CDs, then call Dell and order it. Also have them email you the setup instructions for the hidden partition. Once the hidden partition is setup, you wont have to load individual CDs. You'll use one CD to load an image and then run the restore from that image.

Most retailers dont go through this and just load a shop copy of Windows7 and the license off the computer and stop there.
