(There is no computer and technology forum, so I guess I will post this in here)
I bought a computer, one of the best HP in 2007. I got 250GB of Hard Drive and 1024MB of Memory. For years, google earth worked fine. Then, when google earth updated itself to 3D images, the problems began. Everything else worked fine on google earth but the 3D images, especially of New York City. My brother told me that it was due to the fact that there was so much data is needed to upload the 3D images, that even my fast computer with lots of memory is outdated. Is that true or am I having some other technical issue? I do not know that much about the technicalities of computers so that is why I am asking. Everything else on my computer works fine enough, it is just the 3d images of google earth are not coming up way too slowly, unlike my brother's more recent PC. What do you think based on what I am able to tell you?
Do you have a dedicated video card or is your video built into the motherboard? Most motherboard video cards tend to have low performance. They also use your PC memory for video, instead of having their own separate video RAM.
Even by 2007 standards, that didn't seem like a top on the line system.
2 hardware upgrade I would recommend would be another 1GB RAM and a better video card which might be your main bottleneck with Google Earth.
OK, thanks guys. I guess I do not have enough memory. My hard drive is due to crash this year so when I have a new hard drive installed, I guess I can have more memory installed as well.

mensaguy - They do not, but my hard drive last time crashed after two and a half years. It has been two years since I got my second one.
