You are very cautious, Jtur88

Windows key looks like four white squares on a black square (on my keyboard anyway, YMMV)

It would be good to know how this feature works, in the event that you or someone using your computer ever activates it accidentally. Scrupulously avoiding it won't prepare you for that possibility.

You mean like when the 18-month-old climbs up in the chair to play with Granny's computer?

Googling /windows key/, I find that I can perform most of its functions on MY keyboard with Ctl-Esc.

My computer does enough crazy things without an 18-month-old's agency, requiring me to phone somebody and ask them to google, for example, all the icons and task bar spontaneously disappearing from my desktop. Been there, done that, and sure enough, after I wrote down the fix on a label under my keyboard, my sister phones me and asks me what to do when her icons and taskbar spontaneously vanish.\

I have enough of these kinds of adventures, without creating more of them experimentally.

Imagine a Windows-designed car, in which the brake pedal suddenly vanishes, and you have to phone somebody and ask them to google the fix.

Another place to see the profile name you're using is right at the top of the Start Menu. At least that is where it was in XP. I didn't check to see if it's still there in Windows 7.

I am still of the opinion that some people should not be allowed to have a computer. Give them a car and a GPS instead...

If he never created a password, meaning left it blank, he'd have nothing to worry about. As bs1390 stated, Windows would show the logon screen and once the user clicks on their account it should go into their account. If he had one but cannot remember it, then they could always go to Local User Profiles and blank it out (reset password > proceed > leave both fields blank > OK) but I think the OP, at least by now, is savvy enough.....I think.

Besides, removing/resetting Windows XP.7 password using a bootable media and free tools is a valid option: http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/bootdisk.html
