Lock is pretty much useless if you don't have a password on your account, it is designed as a quick way to "lock" the computer and require the password to get back in.

Basically....You disabled the lock feature when you didn't add a password.

Look around your keyboard. Notice other keys that have an icon the same color? Pressing FN and those keys make magic happen...like lower your volume. Adjust your brightness. Toggle WiFi on and off.

As for the Windows Key... isn't that better then CRTL-ESC???
