I was going to add a long intelligent post, but I found the OP to be such a waste of time I changed my mind.

^^ Aw come on, Tek; I'd love to hear what you would say! Many times you've written very intelligently & cogently on a given subject.

I agree! I absolutely love being able to search out anything at all on Startpage. My knowledge is increasing but I also notice there's a growing number of things about which I am ignorant.

If the news always seems old why not go to different news sources?

The weather inaccurate? and that is a problem with the Internet, how? Are you disgusted with your TV too? They broadcast the same weather reports one see's on the Internet. I still do the old fashioned thing and stare up at the sky a few times a day.

I've never had anyone try to sell me something on FB, maybe I'm using a different one than you use?

Obviously your requirements are quite limited concerning your use of a computer so for you it makes sense that for you it's a waste of time and money.
That must be the OTHER Facebook.

Unless "working" on the computer... which is not a waste of time.
If it is only for entertainment value (like forum surfing, games etc.)... a big yes!

Instead of spending & wasting time on the computer...
A productive me can be / should be doing chores, maintaining the house, do yardwork etc.... reserving down time for computer when it rains or weather not permitting.

As an architect I do sometimes long for the days of 'pen and ink' even though CAD has been dominant for as long as i've been in practice.

I've done both. It's a false longing, trust me.
