OK - I'm not very technically inclined and hope I can properly explain my problem.
We have a desktop (not wireless) and two laptops (wireless). We have been having a problem with just one of the laptops were sporadically it is unable to connect to the internet - no such problem with the other laptop.
If we shut down all the PCs, turn off the power to the cable modem and wireless router and then power back up the problem is usually resolved. There does not seem to be a pattern to when the problem occurs.
Any thoughts on what to try to fix this? Why would only one of the laptops be impacted and the issue be sporadic?
Update the drivers. Try just rebooting the one problem laptop. If the problem laptop is an HP or Compac Dv series they're known for that problem. Go to the network and sharing center and see if it is throwing you any errors. Click on "connect to a network" make sure that you're in the wireless portion, and see if your network shows up.
Check for updates for the firmware for your wireless router too.
