The other night my HP laptop Vista tuned off with a pop sound. Ever since then it suddenly turns off with a pop sound and the other thing is the battery indicator keeps showing a low battery even though it has been plugged in.

I looked at the power strip that I had the laptop power line connected to and the prongs from the computer line were almost out of the strip but in enough to power up (from me pulling on the line) so the computer was sucking juice and failed (that's what I think). Ever since then it turns off without warning with the pop sound and the battery indicator has never risen to high level.

There's nothing wrong with the software; I've checked it all out. What do you think?

Take the battery out and run it on A/C only. I don't know what kind of pop sound you're describing, but if it's the battery, maybe you're just hearing the hard drive "clutch" kick in or something.
