Hi,
I have a few on-line photos that, by using the window "paint" program, i added the name of the photographer to.
The problem is, i'm not satisfied with the way that i did it which i didn't realize until after i clicked "save".
Is there a way to retrieve the original photos ... before i added the name?
Thank you.

"paint" is such a basic program that it won't save versions (edits), so it likely overwrote the original.

That's funny, when did it start that (not save versions)?

I've been able to edit and re-edit pics with no problems....

What I am mystified with is the OP says he/she edits pics that are online and saves them.

Can Paint open a file on the web and then save it in it's original location?

Paint never had version control.

I've recovered different versions of image/documents that have been opened and saved with data recovery software in the past. No guarantees but you might get lucky.

I misspoke ... they're not on-line, they're on my computer.

By default, it overwrites a file opened on the local drive when you edit then save the image.

You don't seem to be here to contribute, or even provide realistic responses. Of course you can RE-edit it again, it doesn't change it to read only.

Can paint open a file on a web page, no, it's not a browser so it can't access webpages. Hell it can open a read-only file, edit it, but you ain't going to save it without renaming or changing permissions. What is your damn point other than you like the sound of your typing.

LOL.

Every time I use paint (which for some reason is a lot) I make sure to change the file name (file save as) so that I obtain the original.

Also Windows Picture Viewer or Picture Manager can change the file if, for example, you want to brighten or correct the contrast of the photo; it will change the file afaik without a single prompt.

2 questions, what operating system are you using, and how long were the original pictures on the computer before you edited them?

Windows Vista now but i transferred? them from my previous lap-top (which would have been Windows whatever it was back then) almost 3 years ago.
The photos were originally downloaded in March or April of 2006.
