Windows 7

I shut my laptop down at about three this morning. It started doing an update. I shut the screen. At eight I got up and opened it and it was at 3 of 7 and still is. What can I do?

Stop Windows Update service and empty C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder.

....and then restart. Right? If he stops the service it won't update automatically again until he restarts the service or the computer. Right?

Also, don't close or turn off until update completes in the future.
