Well, AGP technology is on its way out, since the new PCI-Express technology that's becoming mainstream nowadays in video cards, is supposed to be superior to both AGP and PCI. It will be pretty tough to find new AGP cards in the near future. The only ones you'll find these days at Fry's Electronics are ones that will not work with your older motherboard, because new AGP cards range in memory from 256 to 512 mega-bytes, and the motherboard on your computer will able to handle only 64 mega-bytes, which was "State-of-the-Art" technology 8 years ago, otherwise you'll spend $300-400 on a new 512-mega-byte AGP card, and you'll only be to use 64 megs and you won't be able to take advantage of its full capabilities.

By the way, which operating system are you running on the computer? Please don't tell me it's Win 98 or ME!

I have an old Gateway with a AGP and Slot 1, bought a new video card for it for $50. at a local computer store (we don't have any of those name brands here) It has either 128 or 256 memory. works just fine for what that machine is used for. If you can find a AGP card put it in and get back on it will be fine for surfing the internet and using Word and such.
