This application has failed because iertutil.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
OK. (in a little box underneath)
I'm on a new iPad now (ugh!) so cannot do much.
I found Dell repair link in one of these threads (thank you) and did all the unplugging and other stuff recommended there and the upshot is that I re install windows XP. I bought this PC with XP already installed with a little sticker on the side of the tower...I am 99 0/0 (no bloody symbol!) that we do not have the XP CDs
So I went to eBay to see if there any cheap ones there but I also saw a lot of "repair and recover" CDs...are these any good? Have any of you had success with them (they do promise quite amazing capabilities for little money), and if so, which one?
I really need help as I am only semi literate in computer terms.

Thank you...I'm going slightly crazy following directions from that site (it is very good), but there are lots of instructions for when the ddlutil is NOT found whereas I did find it in the cache. Then I commenced plowing through pages to see what I should do...I'm too tired now.
So tomorrow is another day (to quote Scarlet)...wish me luck and patience because I have come very close to simply hurling the whole damn tower out the window!
