So I need to buy a new computer, but a lot of what I'm looking at cost too much and has too many things I don't care about (3D tech I'm looking at you...)

Anyway, my budget is around $400.00. The only specs that I really care about are
  • 4-6GB RAM
  • 500GB-1TB memory
  • processor powerful enough to handle mid/high-level video editing
  • video card for watching/editing blu-ray or HD video
From some basic research, I found something kind of what I'm looking for : Lenovo Essential H420 7752-1QU Desktop PC - Intel Pentium G620 2.60GHz, 4GB DDR3, 1TB HDD, Intel HD Graphics, DVDRW, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit at TigerDirect.com but I don't know enough about computers to know if this is a good purchase

Any advice on what I'm looking for, what to buy, or where to go for more options would be appreciated.

For video editing I strongly suggest a quad core processor. Most video editing programs will take advantage of multiple cores during rendering and the performance improvement is dramatic.

I edit "medium" video on my three year old PC with a quad core Q6600 (not current) processor and a very ordinary ATI Video card. The video card does not signficantly change the editing experience.

That PC is a dual core. Look for a quad core i5 processor.

Newegg.com - lenovo IdeaPad Z575 (129929U) Notebook AMD A-Series A6-3400M(1.4GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory DDR3 1333 500GB HDD 5400rpm DVD±R/RW AMD Radeon HD 6520G

Maybe a stretch. It's a quad core, but the graphics I'm not so sure about for video work
