Download.com is an old favorite once you weed out the free to try and purchase downloads from the free downloads you are fine.

I'm not a typical PC user, but I really like some of the CD images you can grab legally from various web sites. Some are useful for PC users in general like The Ultimate Boot CD, some are quick-n-dirty ways to try things like Linux via LiveCD without getting your hands too dirty, and some are software collections of interest to Windows users in general or Windows users who simply want an easy-to-use X server (XLiveCD).

Oh yeah. I like weird stuff like this as well, but I also still use OS/2. w00t! :-)

Would SKYPE count?
It's the sort of thing that makes you want to ask everybody to use it...

I also use download.com. My FAVORITE download to date is the GIMP, which basically replaced my Adobe Photoshop need and saved me hundreds of dollars! I also give two thumbs up for Deep Paint if you're into online art, AVG anti-virus (thanks CD members!), AdAware spyware scanner, and the Cutie pdf writer.

I think my favorite is CCLeaner. It not only cleans up all your cookies, history and temp files, but I've found it does a better job of removing programs from your computer than the Windows Add/Remove utility. It also repairs or deletes irrelevant registry entries.
