My eye-sight is going bad, and I thus have problems reading the small print on some web-sites, or even when I do word processing, or whatever.

I found a keyboard, made by Microsoft, Model 4000, which has a slider button in the middle of the keyboard, which is a *zoom* button.

Like it a lot. Too bad it is not backlit ...
Can not have everything ! Shucks !

Got it from NewEgg

Those who want to do it on their keyboard without the special button can accomplish the same task by holding the Windows Key and pressing the Plus and Minus keys

On a MacBook Pro, you hold down the Command key and the plus key to enlarge the screen. Command and the minus key makes it smaller.

Windows Key + is annoying.

CTRL + or - does the trick

CTRL + or - is an application feature. It's different than what the OP is talking about and how Apple does it using the trackpad. Windows +/- allows you to zoom in and out of the screen at the OS level.

CTRL +/- won't work on a lot of applications... for example, try it in Windows media player, or even just the Windows desktop.

Correct!

That is why I prefer the new keyboard I have.
Assume I have one programme open.
If I *hover* the mouse over the programme window, and slide the zoom key, then only that window zooms up or down.

Now if I hover the mouse anywhere else on the screen (not inside a window), then only the desktop zooms in or out.

All the the other programme dependent commands are at least two keys.
The zoom slider is only one key, so for me worth the 23 dollar investment.
