I have VideoStudio ProX4, and it is OK.

I want to embed a lot more short video in my websites.

Is support for HTML5 and my Canon DSLR reason enough to upgrade to Pro X5 or Ultimate X5?

Some of the other bells and whistles don't matter a lot to me. Nice but not necessary.

That's just good marketing. For common codecs used for HTML5 video support you would only need the right codec installed. Video Studio *should* allow you to select any codec you have installed on the system.

-edit---

Looking at the PDF it appears it outputs the HTML5? My personal experience with any media editor like image editors or video editors that output HTML is the code is often hugely bloated, has cross browser issues and not compliant. I prefer to just write it myself.

It looks nice... Plus the added programs I need. I would have bought the upgrade but I only have purchased Version X2 Pro - ineligible for upgrade. So I have to wait for a Corel email Sale on X5 Ultimate complete or else get an "unofficial" version...

Edit: I clicked on several Ordering Links and found I can buy the FULL version for $69.99 which I did buy. The extra programs were worth it. Now I gotta learn to use it.

And I noticed there were hardly any Ultimate versions of this torrent if possible. At $69.99 Full Ultimate version this program suite is worth buying!

I also kept a record of past Corel email sales and Video Studio Pro would usually go on sale at $79.99. During a 1 day sale when X4 Pro was new it sold for $99.99 Full new.

Thanks, coalman.

Since it is unlikely that I will be coding much of anything anytime soon, I think I will go for the 30 day trial and see what I think.

The beauty of HTML5 is it simplifies embedding A/V. It's almost as simple as inserting an image:

<video width="320" height="240" controls="controls">
<source src="movie.mp4" type="video/mp4" />
<source src="movie.ogg" type="video/ogg" />
Your browser does not support the video tag.
</video>

HTML5 Video
