Welcome to The World According to TVSG. Grab a bottle of aspirin and a bottle of rum if you plan on continuing beyond the introduction ...

Meltdown continues. If he used the computer solely for job related issues it would last for decades. Judging from his current posting stats on CD alone it's lucky if it's used for anything remotely connected to the job search in a 24 hour period. Once unemployment benefits are close to an end it might get used a little more on priorities.

If a TV died I'd live without it, but we do have several TV's in different rooms, so I guess I might move one to replace the broken one, but it wouldn't be a priority (I actually have an old 20" CRT TV in my office, but rarely turn it on).

As for the computer, not that unusual. We have 4 in use everyday in our house, along with a server and my laptop that rarely sees use unless we travel. I wouldn't go long without replacing one that died, but I use two of those machines to make my living so they are critical.

Your real friends will still enjoy your company if you don't have a TV.

Back in August the backlight of the screen blew out and now I'm having issues with the keyboard. So I still say it was a goo buy for $275 which was almost years ago. So just like a TV or DVD player, at some point you have to replace it because the life span is only 4 to 5 years. I know I'm not supposed to make a upgrade while unemployed but this is important and I dont want to be in a situation where I have to lose a week of job search due to no computer. So I have made the decision to get a new laptop before April 4th and this computer I;m using will be a backup and be put away just in case of an emergency.
Excellent idea!! Go for it!!
Happy shopping

Glad to see that you got it working (as far as I can tell, considering the string of D's).

I don't charge to replace single keys if I happen to have all the parts necessary. If the entire keyboard needs to be replaced (for whatever reason), we charge usually around $50 and it takes a couple days to get a keyboard in. I've seen nearly identical models with the only difference being where the keyboard screws into the case.
