Also, sometimes the cordless mouse doesn't connect electronically with the computer, and you waste a lot of time waiting for the computer to "find" the mouse. There's so much less fuss with a corded mouse.

I had a box of old keyboards and mice. I replaced the other one with an older Logitech corded, model M-BJ58. Now after many months, I am getting intermittent events. I left click one time but it takes action two times. I opened the mouse and vacuumed any debri, and it is not 100% fixed.
My tower is not situated where the receiver and the wireless mouse can easily find each other. I have used a wireless at other person's home and the receiver was wireless too I think. A small device sitting there in front of the keyboard on a large desk. I don't have room to aim the tower at the mouse. If the mouse can point west and the front of the tower the opposite direction, then it would work.
I'm going to go with a new corded mouse.
Someone mentioned the rubber on Microsoft mice. I posted a photo earlier of part of a wireless set. The keyboard and the receivers are fine, but the wireless mouse was all sticky and unable to be used = trash can. I'm not sure what made the rubber go bad like that, over time.
Regular ole plastic will be fine for me. Staples, here I come. Wireless move out of the way. Maybe I try that technology at some time in the future. For now a corded optical USB. The cord is not going to be a problem.
Never needed a mouse pad with this desk. Also, at some point it made a noise when moved on the wooden desk top. I put felt pads on all 4 corners and it works fine except it wants to left click twice now and then when the button was only pressed once.
As far as batteries, I'm still feeding them to my Vivitar 3315 camera.
Don't say it.
