Default Memory

I'm trying to optimize memory on my C Drive, and I found a file taking up 1,392,004 kbs of space. The file name is "00000002" and it is a .wav file. any help would be appreciated.

Also, if anyone has any suggestions for optimizing memory, I would greatly appreciate them.

Thanks!

I would say you could go into "Safe Mode" and delete them files. While there run Spybot Search and Destroy, Adaware and whatever Virus Scan you are using.

If you have an antivirus I'd first scan it to be sure it's safe. More than likely you don't need that file.

The only thing I can think of is go into control panel, and uninstall any programs you know you don't need. In addition, run disk defragmentor once every 2-4 weeks. (Click Start, All programs, Accessories, System tools, Disk defrag.)

If you're running low on memory, new hard drives are super cheap these days. If it's a desktop, you can get a 2nd hard drive installed as a slave drive and add a ton of memory fairly cheap.

You sure that's not 1,392 kb? 1 gig is heck of alot of music. I guess it could be a whole album you downloaded at one point. Did you try playing it?

Optimize "memory"? Don't you mean the disk space?

What folder is this file located in? If it's the Temporary Internet Files, just run the Disk Cleanup utility or use Windows Explorer to go to that folder and delete it, then empty out the Recycle bin.

It's also a good idea to run Disk Defrag after that to get fragmented files all clustered in speicific locations on the disk drive.
