Hello everyone. Coming back to this section because you guys were very helpful last year when I had a memory problem w/my computer.
Here's the problem.
Trying to get onto sites for my kids (ie Webkinz), and a popup appears saying (I need to download Adobe Flashplayer).
So I try to download, but I get an error message saying: "Unable to authenticate installer".
What does that mean??? I'm terrible w/trying to fix my computer. I have an old HP pavilion 7850 Windows XP bought about 8 years ago.
I noticed in the past several weeks alot of sites have been asking about installing flash. Don't know if anyone needs more info to maybe figure out where I need to go to get this fixed...thanks for your suggestions.
I also have a problem installing the "automatic Windows updates" that pops up in the bottom right of my screen. The latest installation said "Security update for Microsoft.net framework version 2.0" could not install......could this be linked to not being able to install Flash player?
(the reason I'm asking here is because I'm afraid if I call Microsoft or adobe, I'll get the runaround....)
The only solution Adobe offers to the Flash download problem is to make sure you are not using a proxy server and to verify that the date and time on your computer are correct. If the clock is off, the certificate seems to be expired.
Disclaimer: I haven't verified this. I've seen the problem a few times, but never found the solution when I needed it.

That's interesting, I didn't know that. Seems to me the only thing in common here, with the above-mentioned problem, might be the clock.
I don't really know what is going on with Flash. Adobe isn't being helpful when people ask, either. The times I've seen it happen is when I get called to a conference room because somebody can't get a webinar loaded. Then I fix it (most of the time) or get stymied in front of a room full of people. Next time I get that call, I'll check the clock.
Now I just have to remember to reset the time/date everytime I log on......(it doesn't save when I hit the switch ont he surge suppressor...
thanks again!
If the time isn't saved, you probably need a new motherboard battery. They are really not hard to change.
