DVD Rip Program
I'm going on vacation and want to watch DVds on my computer but cannot seem to rip them. Does anyone know of a good program? I tried Handbrake and was having trouble.

rip them from dvd or burn them to dvd from MKV/AVI/MPG etc?
If the latter, try convertx, available for free on piratebay. If the first, try slysoft

You can use DVDFab for 2o days for free, burn as many DVDs as you want. If you really like it and want to hold on to it, then you could buy it and get free updates, for $51, it is a pretty good software.
Alternatively, you could just use PassKey Lite for free.
You could use the good old DVDDecrypter or DVDShrink but they typically work with older movies (2005 or older)

First I'm going to assume you have a Windows PC (handbrake is a multi platform application), so .
Second, does NO ONE actually read what the OP wants, or just shoots from the hip based on a few words that happen to read.
The OP states he wants to rip some DVD's TO his computer, then watch them ON his computer and said nothing about burning copies, to which all replies to this point have refered
Solution is simple;
MakeMKV will rip them to his computer and save them as MKV files.
VLC will play these back on his computer from the MKV files.
Both are free

In all fairness, DVDDecrypter can rip to ISO and you can play the ISO in VLC.

The reason Handbrake isn't working for you is because if they are retail DVDs they have copy protection.
It used to be that all you had to do was have VLC installed on your machine, and it would allow Handbrake to rip retail DVDs.
However, the latest updates of VLC have removed that feature, and now you have to manually download the DLL file that makes this feature possible. (VLC itself no longer needs to be installed)
The library is called "libdvdcss" and can be found here:
VideoLAN - developers - libdvdcss
Just put the file in your Handbrake installation folder (Usually C:\Program Files\Handbrake) and it should work beautifully
(I'm in the process of ripping my father-in-law's DVD collection and have ripped 200+ DVDs using this method in the past week )

In all fairness you might as well download a cracked copy.

Thank you for your input. I began using VLC which I read online is good. It seems to rip the DVDs but upon playback has no sound... Not sure what to do next. Anyone experience this? And no, I do not need to burn, just rip. Thank you.

In all fairness, I couldn't suggest a "crack" or "cracked software" on this forum but also, that kind of program gets updated to be able to handle new types of encryption so any version becomes dated rather fast. By the time 20 days up, there is a new version available so I uninstall the app, restore registry then install the new version.
Samuel, you might also want to try Peregrine's suggestion, I heard pretty good things about that app on other forums as well.
DVDFab and AnyDVD can rip any movie to local disk, to a folder you select. For older titles, I use RipIt4Me (free) which is a shell for DVDDecrypter (free) and it works really well.
I think plenty good apps have been suggested which you can pick from.
Good luck.
