Where is the setting, so that the font size will stay at 16 or 18?
It opens up at 14, and too small.

When I copy paste text from elsewhere, is there a setting that allows Word to paste it, at the desired font size?

I copy pasted a name and address from another site. It was about the size of the letters you see here in my question. But it pasted as a font 9. I had to highlight all of it, and change 9 to 16.

Thanks.

For your first question I suggest you use Word Help and search for "default font size." I bet it is easy to do. I find that Help in Microsoft Office is very good.

For the second, instead of simply pasting the text you might choose "paste special" and see if it allows you to NOT use the original font size. Word has no idea if you want the original or something else so it defaults to use the original with a regular paste.

Word 2007 when you paste something will post a "smart tag" there. Click the tag and select "match destination formatting". I believe you only have to do this once in a document and it will default to that for the remainder of the document.

hoffdano:
I went to the help section and it is pretty well packed with information.
Above the window was a long lateral font tab. There I changed it to 18. I had to click default to get it to stay at 18.

.................................................. .................................................. ...........................................
When pasting, right click on the destination, there was the tiny clipboard > paste options > and "match destination. formatting."

stanman13: After pasting one line, it did default back to the 18, for the rest of the document.

Thanks.

Another option would be to use the Paste Special option on the Home ribbon (or press Alt+Ctrl +V), and choose unformatted text. This will paste your text in the current document format.

The following simple procedure works for both word 2007 and 2010:

1. Open a new (blank) Word document.
2. Click on the arrow at the right bottom corner of the Font bar
3. At the Font window, change the font and/or font size to whatever your heart desires
4. Click on Default.. button and then click Yes to confirm changing the default font/font size for all documents by modifying the Word template (Normal.dot)
