Having trouble adding files to DVD-RW.. (how to, Windows XP, software, website)

I'm using windows xp and since it doesn't recognize dvd-r's for use on burning stuff to I'm using 'free easy burner' program. It allows me to save my computer files, documents, photos, etc to dvd-rw BUT when I try to add additional files or anything to same dvd-rw it erases everything that was previously on disc before writing new stuff on it. Any tips on how to add to dvd-rw without losing previously stored files?

Why not just buy a thumb drive and copy the data to it? They are extremely cheap right now. You're dealing with an extremely old DVD drive that probably wants dvd+r vs dvd-r.

When you burn the DVD is there an option to leave the DVD open for more sessions?

I don't understand why your version of Windows XP won't allow you to burn CD's/DVD's.....

As others mentioned, you have to leave the media open (do not close the session) on the CD-R, DVD-R or DVD+R type media. If you close the sessions (this is typically an option most if not all media burner software offer then you cannot add to that media again.

To always have the capability to add any time or be able to erase whatever is on the media and re-write to it, you will need to use CD-RW or DVD-/+RW type media where RW stands for Re-Writable.
