I have a Dell V305 printer that prints out PDF files like chit. Someone can send me a file in word format and I download it and it prints out just fine.
When someone sends me a file in PDF form, I open it (by default) in PDF. When I print it out only the BOLD black type comes out alright, all the rest is a faded mess. I have Adobe and I've tried everything to no avail. No color is involved.
I don't believe this issue involved what program you use to view PDF files.
The problem is with the print device properties (configuration) and/or the PDF file in question.
If this is happening with any random PDF file, then the culprit is likely to be the printer.
The first step for me would be to check the Printer Properties when you click on File > Print from within the PDF document you want to print.
- Check especially the settings for "Paper/Quality" or similar. Make sure to check the resolution and Advanced settings.
- I have seen certain printer software that actually have the "PDF" as an available option when printing a document so that the user could choose between Text, Image and PDF types for much better print results.
Secondly, what type of drivers do you have installed for the printer, the original software that came with the printer?
- If yes, have you tried checking to see if there is a newer version available. If so, download and install that and try again.
- If no, you already have the latest drivers installed, then is it full (includes PostScript and PCL drivers) set or just one of the different drivers (PS/PCL)?
