I already own a 13" Dell. It has served well but at this point I am sending it into mandatory retirement. As painful as editing in 13" was, it is possible by keeping menus and panels to a minimum or none. I do want my next laptop to have 15" form factor.

I have looked into HP 8560w and Dell M6400 as mentioned here and other threads. These seem to be discontinued models today, but perhaps still obtainable as a refurb. Someplace I also read that Sony s15 comes with a IPS. Not sure how that plays into my "pirate" plans. Vaio's don't seem to gain much traction with the hackintosh crowd. Btw, Snow Leopard is only $20 directly from apple. There is no need to risk trojans and backdoors by snagging it from god knows where.

The S15 doesn't cover sRGB and has an orange cast (read about orangegate on any hardware forum) that can't be corrected. If you're looking for color accuracy I would stay away.

And the "Hackintosh" is in direct violation of the Apple EULA and likely in violation of the DMCA, even if you buy it directly from Apple. I disagree with their business model but that's what they try to do, at least.

I'm trying to be helpful to anyone who would read this, not just you. I think you're aware of the questionable legal status of the "Hackintosh" (and what you do is between you and Apple, not me) but some random person reading this in three months may not be and may think that a "Hackintosh" is unquestionably legal. Given the varying level of technical sophistication that's important to make clear.
