You don't by chance have a 3rd party wifi management app installed do you, like those that Dell or HP install, or one of those for a 3G connection? Had a client a few weeks ago that couldn't connect to his router, turned out to be a wireless connection app from Sprint causing it.

Something else to look at is the network itself (go through the answers here):

I believe she's using the latest from the manufacturer. At least that's the last I heard.

We have two other laptops that have no problems connecting.

Have you tried disabling it and using Windows to manage wifi?

You can still get that affect without it going to sleep. Set the monitor to turn itself off after 10 minutes or so, and make it require a password after 10 minutes or whichever time you set the monitor to go off.

AFAIK Windows has no such option as turning the monitor off is a power management setting, however applying a screensaver will give the password option.

If it occurs again run a sniffer and see if it sees anything around you....

If you ping 127.0.0.1 does it respond?
